Oceans of Energy

Oceans of Energy Yoga & Nurturing:

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient and holistic system of harmonizing all our bodies – the physical body, the etheric or auric body, the emotional body, the mental body and the spiritual body. Yoga means union - through yoga we learn to live with all our bodies, and we work toward stillness and accessing our own inner knowledge and spiritual energy. Yoga was developed thousands of years ago in the north of India. Originally 84 postures were assumed resembling all living species in the universe and encompassing the full potential of human movement. In yoga the spine is the axis of the human universe, connecting us to the earth below and the heavens above. Thus the positions are designed to cultivate our spine – our “tree of life” , which carries our breath of life, our vital force, our absolute energy. Yoga also brings us awareness of the breath, enabling us conscious access to our life force. Hatha Yoga is the traditional, classical yoga based on the original 84 positions called asanas which aim for steadiness in the physical body, stillness and purity in the mind, awareness of the senses and experiencing with the heart. There are many other types of yoga, such as Bhakti – a free expression yoga, Mantra – yoga using sound and chanting, and Raja – the yoga of meditation and  contemplation. The first task of aspiring yogis is to seek out and then accept a teacher. Consider the personality, approach and qualities of the teacher eg. evidence that he/she too is ever a student of yoga, has a truthful nature, commitment to the students, and is caring. Trust your instincts and your teacher will appear. What the student should bring to yoga is willingness to undertake effort, to make a beginning and then to be guided by their own inner wisdom. Practice is very important – one of the principles of yoga is practice for its’ own sake without regard to outcome – because we are working for our own bodies. Diligence, perseverence and attention to detail are required. Some general hints are wear comfortable, loose clothing, allow 2 hours after eating and -  breathe, breathe, breathe!  A typical yoga class is between one hour and one and a half hours and begins with general body warm ups, practising the poses or asanas which exercise all our body systems, including our organs, and concluding with a relaxation.

Massage

Oceans of Energy Massages are structured for the needs of your body, mind and spirit through swedish, reMedia Pagel, pressure point & breathwork. The massage can focus on a problem area or cover the whole body. Some benefits are: to the blood & lymphatic circulation aiding detoxification and cleansing of organs, - important particularly after prolonged use of medications; to break down scar tissue, adhesions & soft tissue; to increase tissue elasticity; to reduce muscle pain; and to calm the nervous system.
Lymphatic Drainage:
stimulates circulation, lymphatic and glandular systems to release toxins, fluid retention & oedema. Joint release and light stroking techniques toward the heart are integral.
Pregnancy Massage: Focuses on lymphatic drainage, supporting softening skeleto-muscular system, easing aches and pains associated with the expanding pregnant body, & calming the nervous system thus easing the move to motherhood.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy - "gaining empowerment" combines breathing, deep relaxation, mind focusing, creative imagery, verbal affirmations & self suggestion. A relaxed concentration is induced that bypasses the usual evaluative mind, allowing a “let go” of the protective defenses we carry, from our physical body to our mental and emotional bodies. The “flight-fight” responses of the sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous systems are turned off. This allows us to be open to trust our innate knowledge concerning underlying matters, such as, the origins of, & the nature of our behaviours, beliefs, phobias & addictions. As we become aware of the issues – or pain, we can release & “reframe”, & so evolve to our optimal way of being. Hypnotherapy is client focused, client directed & paced. Critical thinking is always present but “bracketed out” rather than acted on, and at any time a client can choose to leave the hypnotic state. At the beginning of a session a simple gesture system is set up between the client & the therapist to indicate comfort levels, yes/no responses and the desire to end the session. Breathing rhythm and depth, and muscle holding are monitored by therapist observation, and, adjustments, if necessary are suggested for optimal results. Hypnosis includes the practice of self hypnosis and is based on pure physiology whilst also a step into spiritual healing.

Hypno-Anaesthesia is an aspect of hypnotherapy. Its goal is to release pain permanently & tolearn self healing techniques which provide pain relief & management. The techniques can also be used in dental, medical & birthing situations, to manage pain and the fear response associated with these. As the body enters deep relaxation – the hypnotic state, suggestions/ statements/ affirmations which have been devised by the client, are given. These suggestions can be given pre, during & post session. In the hypnotic state muscle tension is reduced, hence anaesthetic is more effective, resulting in less anaesthetic necessary, quicker recovery and less possible after effects. Hypno-anaesthesia is initially complementary rather than alternative.

Soul Life Regressions or Past Life Experiences often occur as a natural extension of hypnotherapy, and again the client can choose to explore or not.  Why explore past lives? From here we can gain insight of the why and who we are now and our patterns of being, belief systems, behaviours, reactions, as well as what brings us joy & fulfillment. We can gain clarity of our life purpose or soul contract, lessons and challenges, and therefore an understanding of why we have attracted people, including our children, families and situations into our current life. We can then begin to view ourselves & what comes to us with more compassion and ‘flow” with grace and gratitude through our experiences.

Reiki

Reiki is healing energy that is transmitted through the hands of the practitoner who directs "universal -nature" healing. A person who receives reiki is simply made better. One dos not have to be sick or in a negative aspect of mind to benefit from Reiki channelling. Teaching Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Reiki Mastership is available.

Crystal Healing

The practice of laying on of stones is an ancient one and much has been written about the methods one can use in laying stones on the body to facilitate healing. Our human body resonates and responds to crystals, particularly quartz. We notice this by our sensory and emotional responses when we see, hold or touch crystals. Our experience of crystals can range from enjoying their beauty and uniqueness, to relaxation, to healing on all body levels. The crystal healer honors healing her/himself and another. Crystal Healing Foundation, InterMedia Pagete and Advanced Workshops are available.

Speech Pathology

Speech Pathology Helps:
Articulation (Speech): - sounds are omitted, distorted, substituted or a combination of above, causing decreased clarity e.g. /d/ is used for /g/ so go becomes “doe”, a slushy s – lisp, or consonant blends are reduced so cloud becomes ‘coud’.
Language: difficulties are experienced in comprehension, such as in following directions, understanding concepts, or getting meaning from conversation; and/or, in expression, such as using appropriate grammatical and sentence structures, vocabulary, or being able to express ideas coherently. Comprehension and expressive language problems can occur singly or in combination and can affect self and social confidence and academic performance.
Fluency: commonly known as stuttering causing repetitions of sounds, words or phrases, hesitations and blocks, often with related facial and body tensions.
Voice: with consistent vocal abuse, misuse and overuse or laryngeal conditions, vocal chord and/or laryngeal tension occurs resulting in changed voice quality – husky, croaky or hoarse, and/or voice loss which may be intermittent or become longer standing.
